Education Networks of America Taps Level 3 for Data Center Support

Level 3 Communications, Inc. announced it is providing critical data center support to Education Networks of America (ENA), a managed network solutions leader for K-12 schools and libraries.

ENA manages multiple statewide and district-wide networks, serving approximately 6,000 sites, 535 school districts and 290 libraries with millions of student, educator, administrator and patron end users. Due to steady growth since its inception in 1996, ENA outgrew its headquarters location, which housed its corporate data center and one of its regional production network nodes. After evaluating its options, ENA determined that outsourcing its data center requirements would help it manage increasing complexity while continuing to deliver reliable infrastructure services and provide outstanding customer service. ENA turned to Level 3 to host its Nashville corporate data center and regional production network, entering into a long-term data center and colocation agreement.

“ENA prides itself on providing robust and reliable support to its K-12, government and higher education customers,” said Travis Wales, Director of Engineering for ENA. “When the decision was made to choose a new vendor for our next generation data center project, Level 3 was a natural fit for us because of its adaptability and flexibility to meet our needs.”

ENA Director of Systems Architecture and R&D Simon Weller added, “We recognize that our network presence and reliability is critical to the continued success of our customers. With these core principals in mind, this new data center facility is engineered to provide the security, resiliency and efficiency our customers have come to expect from ENA.”

“ENA’s growth over the years is a testament to the importance of high-speed broadband infrastructure for schools and libraries, and Level 3 is proud to provide what ENA needs to its critical services and solutions,” said Ed Morche, senior vice president of East Region Enterprise and Government Sales for Level 3. “Level 3’s data center services enable ENA to efficiently and securely manage its data and applications while providing the infrastructure needed to rapidly scale to meet the growing demands of ENA’s customers.”

Level 3 operates more than 350 data center facilities in the United States, Europe, and Latin America.
