Venue News: Carson City Clears Path for Proposed $1.7B Stadium Near L.A.; Wrigley Field Project To Take Extra Year to Complete

The Carson City City Council unanimously voted to clear the path for a proposed $1.7 billion stadium near Los Angeles that could become the shared home to the NFL’s San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders, according to the Associated Press. The 3-0 by the Carson City Council marks a significant step forward for plans to lure the NFL back to the Los Angeles area after two-decades without a team in the nation’s second-largest media market. The next moves now belong to the teams, and to the league…

What’s interesting about AEG’s naming rights discussions is that any potential agreement would stipulate a higher rate if a major-league franchise such as an NHL or NBA team becomes a tenant…

…Milwaukee Bucks president Peter Feigin said Tuesday evening that there was no immediate deadline for a financing deal for a new arena, writes the Associated Press. The comments came after Feigin told business leaders earlier in the day that a deal needs to be done within 10 days so the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee can consider it. Team officials were set to meet Wednesday with legislative leaders and city and county leaders. One issue is how much public money should be part of a $500 million arena in an overall $1 billion entertainment district…

…The Golden State Warriors are hoping to break ground on their new arena shortly after the start of 2016 and have the venue completed in July or August 2018, writes Real GM. The Warriors released renderings of the interior of the arena for the first time as Rick Welts spoke at the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy Forum. Welts pointed to suites inside the arena as large as 600 square feet that would sit on one ring in the arena instead of on two levels at Oracle Arena, minimizing the distance from seats to the court.
