Italy’s European Broadcast Development Selects TVU Networks for Mobile Live Video Uplink

TVU Networks announced that European Broadcast Development (EBD) is switching to TVU in a multi-year deal for all of its live mobile video content services to Italian broadcasters, replacing all similar current equipment in favor of TVU.

EBD will deploy the award-winning TVUPack backpack style transmitter, TVU One, TVU’s newest ultra-compact mobile transmitter and TVU MLink, TVU’s vehicle mounted mobile, microwave and satellite transmitter. The deal arrangement was completed with the assistance of Professional Show, TVU’s official reseller in Italy.

EBD consists of a pool of companies that specialize in broadcast, providing complete and integrated services. EBD works with over 400 partners across Italy and has offices in Milan, Rome and Genova, Venezia, Torino, Bologna, Firenze, Napoli, Bari, and Palermo. In addition to its comprehensive services, EBD invests every year a large amount of its revenue in research and development of new services and technologies.

“At EBD, we are committed to delivering the best solutions and services to our broadcast customers. We were very impressed with TVU products and felt that the TVU equipment’s ability to transmit a broadcast quality HD signal in the most challenging environments with very low latency is crucial to our customers,” says Matteo Brambilla, Strategic and New Business Director, European Broadcast Development. “We have evaluated and used a number of similar products. None of them are able to match the performance and picture quality that TVU’s products can deliver. We are happy to be consolidating to TVU for cellular uplink to allow us to effectively service Italian broadcasters and look forward to a long partnership with TVU. With TVU we started a deal with the aim and commitment to develop together the best and up-to-date system to provide the most effective and reliable services to our customers.”

“With DNG (Digital News Gathering), the ENG, Uplink and troupe company of EBD Group, we will integrate TVU transmitters in all the services. The ENG troupe will become, in the near future, a live contribution for all the broadcasters. DNG has done more than 10.000 ENG services in 2014,” says Marco Pacciarini, Chief Operating Officer, Digital News Gathering.

“We are excited and honored that EBD has chosen to move to TVU for its cellular mobile uplink solutions. As a large and well-respected provider of end-to-end services to Italian broadcasters, EBD requires partners that can scale and provide strong support so that it can effectively service its customers. We are well-equipped to handle EBD’s needs because we have many broadcast customers of all sizes around the world and understand their unique requirements,” says Kris Hill, Sales Director Europe, TVU Networks.

TVU One is a fifth-generation, live, mobile IP newsgathering transmitter based on the same reliability, HD picture performance, and under one second latency of a full-size TVUPack backpack transmitter, but in a substantially smaller, lightweight and ultra-compact form factor. TVU One also features TVU’s proprietary Inverse StatMux Plus for a broadcast quality picture even in a moving vehicle. With TVU One, broadcasters can fully leverage the versatility that a small, lightweight IP video transmitter brings in the field, without sacrificing performance, feature functionality, or picture quality.

The award-winning TVUPack is a modular IP newsgathering solution that enables broadcasters to capture and broadcast live HD video of interviews and events over multiple cellular, satellite, microwave, WiFi, WiMax, and BGAN connections, giving organizations and individuals the satellite or microwave TV truck or van functionality in a lightweight backpack. TVUPack features TVU’s proprietary Inverse StatMux Plus technology designed to deliver a dependable HD quality picture with under one second latency.

TVU MLink brings cellular 3G/4G LTE transmission capabilities to satellite and microwave vehicles, vans and trucks. Designed for fixed deployment, MLink is a one RU rack unit that is capable of aggregating the transmission signals from multiple transmission mediums simultaneously, including cellular, satellite, microwave, WiFi, and Ethernet. The TVU MLink uses the same proprietary Inverse StatMux Plus technology that is in its award-winning TVUPack solution to deliver a dependable picture with sub-second latency.
