Super Bowl 50: Level 3 Back in the Super Bowl Swing for 27th Consecutive Year

Level 3 Communications may not match the status of the “Super Bowl Five” group of friends who have attended every single Super Bowl in history, but the company is among the longest-tenured Super Bowl vendors in the industry. This weekend, Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, CA, will mark Level 3’s 27th consecutive year providing broadcast-delivery services for the big game. Level 3 will carry the pre/postgame feeds to all NFL operations centers; NFL Films in Mt. Laurel, NJ; NFL Network studios in Culver City, CA; and NFL Network master control in Atlanta; as well as to other broadcast networks and satellite teleport sites for global distribution. Level 3 will provide global broadcast services to NFL International and to broadcasters in Europe, Mexico, Latin America, Australia, and other points across the globe.

Level 3 A_standard_logo“Level 3 was instrumental in delivering last year’s Super Bowl, which drew a record number of viewers. This, the 50th year should draw even larger viewership,” says Jon Alexander, senior director, media products, Level 3. “After 27 years of working with the NFL, Level 3 is well aware of the complexities involved with delivering an event of this magnitude on a global scale.”

Level 3 estimates that more than 1,400 hours of video content will be acquired, encoded, and transported across the Level 3 Vyvx VenueNet+ platform and managed by its Vyvx Operations as part of the Super Bowl coverage.

“Level 3 is a trusted transmission partner of the NFL,” says Glenn Adamo, VP, media operations, NFL. “This year marks the 27th year that Level 3’s Vyvx platform has provided services for this event. Level 3 provides connectivity to every NFL venue as well as extensive network between our major facilities and has a long track record of reliable services to the NFL.”
