Baseball Fans Continue to Set Digital Consumption Records During AL, NL Division Series

This year’s American and National League Division Series were consumed live by baseball fans in record-setting numbers, including the Postseason’s highest ever average per game consumption mark with 26.4 million live minutes per game, as measured by MLBAM’s Live Digital Data Ratings (LDDR).

mlbam_logoEven with four fewer games compared to last year’s Division Series, fans accessed live games from all Division Series matchups on MLBAM’s consumer digital products at a clip 45% higher than in 2015 (18.2 million minutes per game). It also marks the first Postseason series ever to have eclipsed the 20 million live minute mark per game for the entire round.

In addition, the MLB.com At Bat mobile app, which recently topped an App Annie analysis of the sports app ecosystem, registered a Division Series record daily average of 8.5 million app starts.

At Bat yesterday also set a new all-time yearly record, surpassing 13.2 million downloads. Overall since its 2008 debut as the first sports app in the App Store, fans have downloaded At Bat more than 60 million times, including last year’s previous record of 13.1 million downloads.

LDDR, which began in 2015, analyzes live consumption across MLBAM’s flagship consumer digital products, MLB.TV and MLB.com At Bat, as well as its multi-platform Gameday pitch tracking application exclusively during the live game window.
