Evertz Earns Emmy for DreamCatcher Replay, Production Suite

Evertz has earned an Emmy Award for Technology and Engineering from the The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). The award acknowledges Evertz’s work in Live Production Beyond HD to Achieve Non-Interpolated Video for Instant Replay through the use of the company’s DreamCatcher Replay and Live Production Suite.

DreamCatcher’s 4K-UHD HDR live production tools have significantly
changed the world of sports broadcasts by allowing users to tell a
story in a way it has never been told before. The DreamCatcher system
allows operators to zoom in and track key portions of 4K-UHD HDR video
using an intuitive touch interface designed for speed and accuracy.
Combined with DreamCatcher’s natural smoothing tools the operator can
tell a story that is unique in look and pleasing to the critical eye
of the viewer.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the The National Academy of
Television Arts and Sciences with an Emmy Award for our DreamCatcher
4K Replay system,” says Joe Cirincione, Evertz VP of Sports and
Entertainment. “As the first to implement a digital zoom on a 4K
raster, it’s been fun to change the way the game is viewed and
officiating is done. It is through the hard work and dedication of our
outstanding engineering team that we were able to achieve this amazing
accomplishment. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank
everyone in the field who has utilized and trusted DreamCatcher to
capture those important moments.”

As successfully demonstrated and deployed at Levi’s Stadium for Super Bowl 50, DreamCatcher’s 10GbE networking architecture connects multiple DreamCatcher nodes to create a flexible system that scales easily for any 4K-UHD production. The DreamCatcher technology is currently being used in nearly every major sporting event in North America including multiple NFL Super Bowl championships, the NBA Replay Center, MLB stadiums, NBC’s NHL Stanley Cup Final broadcasts, and NBC Sunday night football to name a few. The DreamCatcher system has significantly impacted the game and enhanced the viewer experience both nationally and internationally.

DreamCatcher’s 4K-UHD production tools come standard as part of every DreamCatcher system without the need to buy additional equipment or licenses.

The 68th Annual Technology and Engineering Awards ceremony will take place on January 7, 2017, at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
