Wheatstone Adds AV SYS to Worldwide Representative Network
Story Highlights
Wheatstone has added AV SYS to its worldwide network of representatives. Based in Athens, Greece, AV SYS provides integrated solutions in IP transport, head-end compression, and 4K software technology for video production.
“AV SYS has one of the best reputations in the industry and is both technically superb and business minded, which is critical at this time when broadcasters are making the transition from SDI to IP,” says Wheatstone Director of Sales Jay Tyler. “This is the kind of organization we want standing behind our systems.”
Wheatstone makes the popular WheatNet-IP system, an AES67 compatible IP audio network made up of I/O and specialty BLADEs combining audio mixing, routing, and control into one studio environment – whether in one location or in multiple locations. “The WheatNet-IP audio network fits nicely into our product line alongside radio and TV automation, media transport and others as part of a proven integrated solution for the broadcaster moving up to cloud and IP based production,” states AV SYS General Manager Antonis Vlastaras, who has an AV/DVB systems engineering background.
Among the benefits of WheatNet-IP for remote broadcast and other IP applications is its ability to serve as an IFB backbone that is routable by simply triggering cross points in the network. Unique to the system are utility mixers built into its I/O BLADEs for creating IFB mix-minuses locally at the venue.
Wheatstone offers a wide range of mixing desks and consoles as part of the WheatNet-IP network, including the large-frame IP-64, all-around Dimension Three with touchscreen interface, and ENG-sized models such as the Series Two and Series Four mixers. All are IP based consoles that interface into the WheatNet-IP audio network, which, as a true IP system, integrates directly and seamlessly into all the major production automation systems, including Grass Valley.
The WheatNet-IP audio network can be set up for production systems that embed audio into video as an SDI over one link or for sending separate audio and video over the same link. Broadcasters can also send audio separate from video with the use of codecs in low bandwidth applications.
Effective immediately, AV SYS will represent Wheatstone’s product line of IP based products and systems in Greece and Cyprus.
