Daktronics Installs New Displays at Joker Marchant Stadium

The City of Lakeland, Florida, has asked Daktronics to design, manufacture and install two new LED video displays for Joker Marchant Stadium, the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers. The displays were installed this winter and are now ready for action and currently in use.

“The new video board is amazing,” says Bob Donahay, director of parks and recreation for the City of Lakeland. “We have a great ballpark and we needed that extra ‘wow’ factor for our fans and this Daktronics video board gives us that ‘wow’ factor. The capabilities of the display, the resolution and the brightness even on sunny days is unparalleled. Daktronics also provides tremendous service as our service after the sale has been remarkable. We’re excited to have such a great partner for this project.”

In left field, a large main video display measures approximately 25 feet high by 46 feet wide and feature a 15HD pixel layout. It will provide excellent image clarity and contrast while including wide angle visibility for broad appeal. It also features variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image across the entire display but also allows it to separate into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, scoring and statistic information, animations, and sponsorship messages.

In right field, a ribbon display was installed along the seating fascia measuring 4 feet high by 102 feet wide and featuring a 15HD pixel layout. This will be able to show content that complements the main display such as up-to-the-minute statistics and game information while also providing the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout games.

“The selection by the City of Lakeland and the Detroit Tigers to continue their long-standing relationship with Daktronics is truly an honor and a testament to our commitment to quality products and services for our customers,” says Mike Kempany, Daktronics Sales Representative. “The large Daktronics 15HD video display will provide fans with a new level of image clarity, increased brightness and fresh dynamic experience in which to enjoy all their home games.  We are proud to be a part of this exciting renovation at Joker Marchant Stadium and sincerely thank all those involved.”

In addition to the equipment installation, the city also received a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services. This content consists of any mixture of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens and venue announcements at the request of the stadium.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with consistent, industry-leading performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
