SVG Venue Production Seminar: SunTrust Park Reveals Fan-Engagement Strategies, Production Workflows
Tour visits video-control room, views the facility’s connectivity options
Story Highlights
SunTrust Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, opened its doors last week to more than 50 industry professionals for SVG’s latest Venue Production Seminar. The event, which took place the day before SVG’s College Sports Summit in Atlanta, invited attendees to hear from the BravesVision production team and tour Major League Baseball’s newest stadium.
Following a networking lunch on Wednesday, Atlanta Braves Senior Director of Fan Experience Scott Cunningham began his presentation with his insight into how the Braves’ new home came to fruition. He then shared a detailed look at the technology inside the new BravesVision video-control room, the impressive connectivity throughout the venue, and the vastly improved ways that his team can entertain and engage Braves fans on game day.

After the presentation, attendees were invited down to the truck dock, where Display Systems Engineer Mark Phipps explained the Braves’ connectivity options for broadcast trucks. Then it was off to the video-control room, where Senior Manager of Production Matt Montemayor described the technologies and the workflows used on game days. Walking around SunTrust Park, attendees were able to see the venue’s 32 LED boards, 1,300 TVs, LED lighting, and sound system up close.
SVG’s Venue Production Seminar at SunTrust Park is the latest in SVG’s Venue Initiative regional-event series. The Venue Initiative serves the information, networking, and business needs of engineering, IT, and broadcast executives in sports venues — both professional and college — and provides a forum for stadium, team, league, and broadcast professionals to interact and spotlight venue best practices, technical hurdles, and trends.
Previous SVG Venue Production Seminars have been held at Madison Square Garden in New York City; EverBank Field in Jacksonville, FL; University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ; and Reliant Stadium (now NRG Stadium) in Houston.
The SVG Venue Initiative is sponsored by Bexel, Canon, Cisco, Clear-Com, Crown Castle, Daktronics, Grass Valley, KMH Audio-Video Integration, Panasonic, Quantum, Ross Video, Sony, and VITEC.
