New Ohio Multipurpose Arena Adds Five Daktronics Displays, One Audio System
Story Highlights
Daktronics will cement a solid presence at Fortress Field this May, the location of a new multipurpose arena in Obetz, Ohio. The venue plans to hold concerts, lacrosse, soccer, football and rugby games as well as other outdoor events. Five video displays flank the arena, coupled with a Daktronics audio system.
Built on the old Columbus Motor Speedway site, the venue was paid for by the City of Obetz with the different event holders acting as tenants. Now, when spectators approach the hollow, square-shaped building, they will be greeted by a 9-feet-high by 32-feet-wide LED message display while walking through the entrance, followed by an 8-feet-high by 13-feet-wide video display paired with custom courtyard speakers for an audio experience within the building’s quad.
After exiting the courtyard to the back of the stadium bleachers, a 10-feet-high by 16-feet-wide video display ensures visitors won’t miss any of the action by giving them a glimpse of what’s happening on the field. Once visitors find their seats, two video displays, each measuring 17 feet tall by 32 feet wide, cap off the far corners of the field. One display also has audio for complete fan interaction. All videos will feature crisp and colorful imagery with respective 10- and 15-millimeter line spacing. The population of Obetz stands at 5,000, the stadium seats 6,500.
“Daktronics is honored to be a partnered with the Village of Obetz for their new multipurpose field. The video displays in the field will connect fans to the team,” says Thad Kaltsulas, Daktronics project manager. “Scoring and replays while the Fortress video displays will make sure the fans don’t miss a second of the action. We are all excited for this partnership.”
Besides the expansive field and amenities, a second story patio on the building’s mezzanine will serve as an entertainment area, complete with a bar and concessions below.
