NAB 2018: JVC To Present Portable Decoder, New 4k Monitors, ProHD Studio

At NAB 2018, JVC Professional Video will presenting to attendees three new offerings: the BR-DE900 ProHD decoder, a portable appliance that supports H.265 and H.264 compression standards, two new series of studio LCD monitors to support today’s growing 4K workflows and the ProHD Studio 4000 compact live production and streaming studio.

JVC Introduces BR-DE900 Portable PROHD Decoder At NAB 2018
When paired with JVC’s IP-enabled cameras, the BR-DE900 provides a bandwidth efficient, error-free streaming solution over any network, including the internet.

Designed for field use, the BR-DE900 provides quality of service with low latency and versatile audio/video connectivity for ENG field reports and other video-over-IP applications. It offers reliable decoding of HEVC or H.264 streams up to 10-bit 4:2:2 1080p/60, with bit rates up to 50 Mbps. Connectivity options include dual 3G-SDI, HDMI 2.0, and composite outputs, as well as multiple audio outputs.

When paired with the JVC BR-800 ProHD Broadcaster streaming server, the BR‑DE900’s H.264 codec and integrated Zixi or SMPTE 2022 Pro-MPEG stream protection technologies provide broadcast-quality video anywhere in the world using public networks. Completely hardware-based decoding minimizes the decoding process cycle to minimize latency without compromising video quality. The BR-DE900 also includes integrated video scaling, frame sampling, and de-interlacing for any stream to any output resolution or frame rate, and its stream forwarding feature efficiently redistributes an incoming stream within a private LAN/WAN network.

JVC Debuts 4K HDR, 4K-Compatable LCD Studio Monitors
Available in two models, the DT‑U series provides native 4K resolution with 10-bit color depth and HDR compatibility. The four models in the more economical DT‑G series convert 4K and 2K sources to full HD.

The 28-inch DT-U28U and 31.5-inch DT-U31U feature native 4K LCD panels with 3840×2160 resolution, LED backlight, wider color gamut, and HLG HDR and PQ HDR display for realistic imagery. Both monitors feature multiple 4K inputs, including 12G-SDI, 3G-SDI quad link, 4K/60p HDMI 2.0, and optional plug-in SFP adapter. Users can also display four independent SDI sources in quad view mode, and there are extensive connectivity options for legacy sources. The DT-U31E supports 100 percent DCI-P3 and 84 percent ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut, while the DT-U28E supports 100 percent Rec.709 and 80 percent DCI-P3 color gamut.

With sizes ranging from 17.3 to 27 inches, DT-G series monitors support 4K/60p HDMI and 2K-SDI signals. Each 8-bit panel has 10-bit signal processing and LED backlight, with the three largest models offering 1000:1 contrast ratio.

Designed for critical video applications, both the DT-G and DT-U series are equipped with a new zero latency image processing mode with only a few lines of delay, which is ideal for lip sync monitoring. Both series also feature 3D LUT 17x17x17 precise auto calibration, with built-in color generator and calibration software, and support user uploaded 3DLUT cube files, which are convenient for color creation in post. Plus, with several built-in De-log LUTs (including JVC J-log1), the monitors can convert directly to ITU-Rec.709.

All models feature a built-in auto calibration function, with only an external X-Rite sensor probe required. Calibration can be done directly from the front-panel USB connection, so the monitor does not need to be removed from its installation.

As part of JVC’s commitment to IP connectivity, both the DT-G and DT-U series offer remote control via web browser. Users can check monitor status, adjust menu settings, and control all monitors in a facility remotely when connected to a LAN. All models also feature convenient front panel controls with dual speakers, AC/DC power with integrated battery port, on-screen tools including tally and 16-channel audio meters, plus built-in waveform, vectorscope with line selector, and histogram.

New JVC PROHD Studio Delivers Portable Pproduction, Streaming Solution, Integrated Camera Control

Also available as the ProHD Studio 4000S for sports production, the self-contained, four-channel system includes a complete control room solution for smaller, budget-conscious facilities.

The ProHD Studio 4000 includes four SD/HD-SDI inputs, four IP stream inputs, and four NDI inputs. An additional HDMI/NDI input with keying can capture an external screen, so users can include content from a smartphone or PowerPoint presentation. Users can record the program output and the streaming output, along with simultaneous ISO recording of all cameras, directly to the ProHD Studio 4000.

Unique features include automatic motion tracking for JVC KY-PZ100 PTZ cameras, as well as Zero Config, which provides automatic, one-click configuration of any IP-enabled JVC camera when it joins the same LAN as other JVC cameras. The ProHD Studio 4000 also includes an integrated remote control for JVC cameras, including full PTZ control for the KY-PZ100. For live sports production, the ProHD Studio 4000S adds automated multi-channel instant replay and slo-mo, as well as an integrated sports CG for scores and timers.

“The ProHD Studio 4000 provides an affordable multi-camera live production solution with unique features you won’t find in other products in its class,” says Joe D’Amico, vice president, JVC Professional Video. “It’s the ideal integrated production switcher for a variety of markets, from small-market news and sports broadcasts to live concerts and worship services.”

A built-in H.264 encoder supports up to 1080p streaming at up to 10 Mbps, with RTMP and MPEG-TS simultaneous output and direct streaming integration to Facebook Live and other CDNs. Output choices include dedicated HD-SDI and HDMI ports, plus an HDMI display port for multi-view or program monitoring.

Other features include an integrated audio mixer, internal CG with templates, four layers of DSK, and a production switcher with a choice of transitions and automated switching modes. The ProHD Studio 4000 supports instant, unlimited clip playback without transcoding, as well as unlimited playlists with PIP and split screen layouts.
