InfoComm 2018: Diversified Acquires Digitavia, Expands Into EMEA Market

The meeting-room provider offers the A/V supplier a more global presence

One month shy of its 25th anniversary, Diversified announced the acquisition of UK-based Digitavia and the expansion of its efforts in the EMEA region. Digitavia, a provider of meeting-room deployments for global enterprise clients, adds its standardized A/V solutions, expertise in collaboration spaces, and support services to Diversified’s ever growing portfolio and gives Diversified a pivotal foothold across the Atlantic.

“In today’s global economy, overseas expansion is a necessary step in continuing our strategic plan and success,” says Diversified founder/CEO Fred D’Alessandro. “Having successfully partnered with the Digitavia team on multiple projects in the past, the decision to combine our companies and bring them into the Diversified family was a natural fit.”

Diversified’s Fred D’Alessandro announced the acquisition during the company’s InfoComm 2018 press conference.

The acquisition, announced during InfoComm 2018, expands Diversified’s global efforts from an APAC hub in South Korea to a new EMEA hub in the UK. The expanded global team will strategically increase Diversified’s operational efficiency with international projects and enable the company to better leverage its resources for customers on a global scale.

The company believes that the expansion, while immediately adding Digitavia’s global meeting-room business, will ultimately benefit all company verticals, including its very successful sports-venue business.

“We look at our operation that we now have in Europe; that’s a nice hub for us to build off of,” says Diversified President/COO Kevin Collins. “When you talk about sports, when you talk about our medical-innovation group, when you talk about broadcast — all of those divisions that we have can start to get built off of this. What [Digitavia] brings is that specialty of really global deployments.”

Diversified’s EMEA efforts will be run by Darren Pitt, co-founder/ director, sales and marketing, Digitavia. Both Pitt and co-founder/Managing Director Daryl Clarke will join the Diversified executive team, reporting to Collins.

“We are very excited to announce this merger and eager to hit the ground running to build upon our existing international presence,” says Pitt. “Combining our specialized services with Diversified’s strong engineering focus and market position will provide limitless opportunities to scale and improve the overall client experience.”

Both Diversified and Digitavia emphasize the importance of company culture in the acquisition. Says D’Alessandro, “One of the big drivers for us as an organization is culture, and making sure that ownership and leadership within these companies remain on board and take our message forward. We are building a unique and special organization.

“Our global enterprise customers want us to deliver solutions on a global basis with predictable results,” he continues. “This just adds to our capabilities. It’s a natural evolution for Diversified to go in this direction.”
