Daktronics Supplies New LED Video Displays for Elon University in Schar Center
Story Highlights
Elon University will feature two LED video displays inside the new Schar Center on campus in North Carolina. The displays will be the largest end wall displays in an arena in the Carolinas and will be designed and manufactured by Daktronics. The upcoming installation will be completed early in 2019.
“We’re thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with Daktronics with Schar Center,” says Elon Director of Athletics Dave Blank. “Daktronics is an industry leader in its field and it shows with the dynamic video displays at each end zone inside Schar Center. In addition to many other features inside the arena, the video displays are going to take the game-day experience to another level for our fans when we open the facility in a few short months.”
Two end wall video displays will show clips of game-day action while keeping fans informed of scoring and other game-day information. Each LED display will measure 14.5 feet tall by 60 feet wide and will feature 10-millimeter line spacing to show crisp, clear imagery to every seat in the venue.
The video displays are capable of variable content zoning — allowing them to show one large image or be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, instant replays, game statistics and information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
“We’re excited to be a part of this great new facility on Elon’s campus,” says Corey Williams, Daktronics sales representative. “Schar Center will be a great addition to Elon’s campus. Our partnership goes back many years so it is always a pleasure working with everyone there. We can’t wait to see the finished product and how our new displays add to the game-day atmosphere.”
Several shot clocks and locker room clocks will be included with the installation to tick down the seconds of action on the court as well as keeping coaches and players informed while off the court.
Elon University will also receive a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services at the request of the university.
