Ross CEO David Ross To Be Honored By Canadian Academy of Engineering

David Ross, CEO of Ottawa-based Ross Video, the international manufacturer of broadcast technology solutions and services, will be inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering at a ceremony on June 18th in Calgary, Alberta. The conference will gather Canadian leaders to focus on clean growth with the theme “Canada in a Carbon Competitive World.”

Fellows of the Academy are selected through a rigorous, multi-stage review and election process in view of their distinguished achievements and career-long service to the engineering profession. Fellows are also committed to ensuring that Canada’s engineering expertise is applied to the benefit of all Canadians.

“As an engineer and business person, I love smart ideas that can be turned into successful products,” says Ross. “While our amazing team is global, and our customer base is global, my home is in Canada and I’m proud to create good jobs and prosperity where I live. This Fellowship is an honor, not just for myself but also for hundreds of engineers and product developers that I work with.”

Ross Video powers video production for billions of viewers every day globally. In 2016, David Ross was Ottawa’s CEO of the Year, and in 2017 he received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ottawa. During that time, his company also welcomed to its lobby two Emmy awards for technical achievements in broadcasting.

Ross products have played a part in the world’s most prestigious broadcast events, including the Super Bowl and the Academy Awards. The company’s solutions can be found in broadcast studios around the world, and even above the world on the International Space Station. The company now has close to seven hundred employees based in six international offices and has enjoyed 26 consecutive years of growth.

Ross Video was founded more than 40 years ago by David’s father, John Ross, who is an Order of Canada recipient and will be attending the ceremony.

Kevin Goheen, Executive Director of the Canadian Academy of Engineering says, “To the selection committee, David Ross represents the best of Canadian engineering; consistent innovation and product development combined with the commercialization of ideas on a world stage.”
