The SVG Podcast: Patrick Crumb, President, AT&T Sports Networks

Regional exec discusses the ROOT Sports rebrand, audience measurement in the RSN biz, and more

With The Walt Disney Company cleared to acquire the entertainment assets of 21st Century Fox, the regional sports network is poised for some potentially big changes in the very near future. However, while those big business decisions are being sorted many are working at RSNs across the country to serve fans in their local markets.

On this episode, we bring you a quick conversation between our Chief Editor Jason Dachman and the President of AT&T Sports Networks Patrick Crumb. With sports nets in Pittsburgh, the Rocky Mountain region, and in Houston, AT&T is one of the smaller chains in the RSN business but they have some big clients, including the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Vegas Golden Knights in the NHL and the Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies in MLB.

The two discuss the major rebrand of the networks from their former identity Root Sports, the state of audience measurement in the RSN marker, where streaming is headed, and a lot more.

This interview was recorded on June 27 at SVG’s RSN Summit at the Palmer House in Chicago.
