AES NY 2018: Clear-Com To Present Wireless Intercom System, Beltpacks in Two Booths

At the co-located NAB Show New York and AES New York 2018, Clear-Com will have two exhibit booths to make sure that all attendees, whether based in the audio or video industries, can see and discuss the latest solutions available. For NAB Show New York, with exhibits taking place October 17-18, Clear-Com will be located on booth N145. For AES New York 2018, with exhibits taking place October 17-19, Clear-Com can be found on booth 828.

Clear-Com will be previewing the new color display V-Series Iris Panel (available in Q1,2019), which can monitor and send communications over three concurrent AES67 uncompressed audio IP streams, enabling systems to deliver high quality, uncompressed AES67 audio from user to user with significantly reduced latency. When connected to Clear-Com’s new high-density E-IPA card, which is natively AES67 compliant, users can deploy up to 64 Iris panels per card.

The Iris panel also offers fully color configurable OLED displays, delivering the user label and port information in dimly lit areas or full daylight. While the V-Series Iris panel will be optimized for a future accompanying versions of Eclipse HX software when running over AES67, it will still have IVC and 4-wire connections for backward compatibility with Eclipse frames running EHX 10.0 or earlier.

The V-Series Iris panel is ideal for productions that have fully converted to IP-based communications for distribution of video and audio, enabling them to leverage the AES67-based V-Series Iris panels to piggyback intercom on a network. Live production teams will also benefit from the full-color OLED displays, allowing them to quickly view and process channel information simply by the colors displayed, keeping their focus on the performance. In addition, production teams can take advantage of the flexibility offered by combining V-Series Iris panels and multiple high-density E-IPA cards for large events, whether in a stadium or worldwide using a multi-regional network via LAN, WAN or the internet.

The natively AES67 compliant and SMPTE 2110-30 ready E-IPA card provides 64 streams of low-latency and high audio bandwidth connections for linking existing and new IP-based Clear-Com products and will be the vehicle for future interoperation with AES67 products. The E-IPA card comes in 16, 32, 48, and 64-port options, and is compatible with Eclipse HX-Delta, Median and Omega systems, allowing users to build an extremely dense network with a mix of connectivity options. Compared to other Audio/Intercom-over-IP connectivity options on the market, intercom users can optimize their investment on Eclipse HX and conserve system card slots for other connectivity needs.

FreeSpeak II, the world’s most popular digital wireless intercom for live performance, theater and broadcast users, will be showing a firmware update providing new functionality including text messaging and a cleaner User Interface, new InSite to provide improved diagnostics and telemetry screens and audio enhancements systems when used in complex radio environments, such as tracking beltpack roaming between cellular transceivers and quality of service over time, thus helping to tune the system for best operation. The new 1.5 firmware is available as an update for the FSII-BASE-II base station and its CCM management software.

The new FreeSpeak II 1.9 GHz IP Transceiver, IPT, features AES67 connectivity, low-latency signal distribution, and high-performance audio routing with high audio bandwidth. As a result, FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks can now be addressed across a user’s LAN. Additional enhancements include supporting a higher density of users per transceiver.

All IPT Transceivers are connected to an AES67 IP switch and to the Eclipse HX system fitted with Clear-Com’s E-IPA high density audio-and-intercom-over IP system card. Each E-IPA card provides up to 64 ports of IP connections, which effectively supports 64 IPTs. The IPT can be powered from a PoE switch or local power source. Direct fiber connection is also available on each IPT.

FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks are seamlessly handed off from IPT to IPT, never losing connection on the intercom if the user stays within the radio zone. Each Transceiver supports up to 10 FreeSpeak II wireless beltpacks; twice as many beltpacks as the existing FreeSpeak II transceivers.

Among the intercom and transport solutions, Clear-Com will also be highlighting remote field and announcer applications based on COMduit which is a solution template using fiber and IP based audio, video, and intercom products needed for remote broadcast production. The application is based around Clear-Com’s ProGrid audio and video transport products, LQ for intercom over IP, and BroaMan’s MUX-22 signal multiplexer. Users simply implement the products they need to solve their specific remote production AV transport requirements.

The V-Series Iris color panel, FreeSpeak II, the IPT Transceiver, E-IPA card, and COMduit fiber-based audio and video transport solution will be available for demonstration, together with a wide range of Clear-Com’s trusted communications solutions, on both Clear-Com’s booths: NAB Show New York, October 17-18, booth N145; and AES New York 2018, October 17-19, booth 828.
