SMPTE 2018: G&D North America To Showcase Traditional KVM, KVM Over IP Systems

Intelligent KVM systems have always been the backbone of computer technology in broadcast applications. KVM technology is deeply rooted in the industry and is used in studios, post-production, OB vans, or in radio transmission. At this year’s SMPTE 2018 from October 22-25, trade fair visitors will have the opportunity to inform themselves about KVM trends and obtain personal consultation on entirely customized projects from the KVM specialists from G&D North America (Booth 111). The team of experts from G&D North America will present visitors with the latest product developments from its portfolio. For custom project requirements, both classic KVM systems and KVM-over-IP for typical broadcast control room applications are available.

The Matrix Appliance ControlCenter-IP is a new product on the market. This matrix system is the first of its kind and enables the extension and distributed switching of computer signals via IP networks. The system’s dual-flexibility is impressive – not only can the computer signals be extended via IP structures, but they can also be flexibly switched as an n:m connection. When combined with G&D’s IP extenders, the ControlCenter-IP becomes a powerful matrix system. KVM-over-IP™ packets are transmitted over conventional networks via network switches and routers; the ControlCenter-IP contributes the transmission logic. This application instantly becomes even more flexible thanks to the network connection and the option of using standard network components. As a result, the system can be easily upgraded and scaled at any time.

Real 4K over IP
The ControlCenter-IP provides a wide variety of signals and solutions for single and dual-link DVI, DP1.1, and DP1.2, including true 4K@60 Hz via IP. The system delivers optimal, pixel-perfect and latency-free image quality for the best-possible hand-eye coordination. Furthermore, the new matrix for KVM-over-IP impresses with the usual, wide-ranging functionality of G&D matrix systems. Functions such as monitoring and SNMP, scripting functionality and scenario switching, push-get function for optimum collaboration and inclusion of video walls, and even CrossDisplay-Switching for intuitive operation at multi-monitor workstations have been integrated into the KVM-over-IP matrix.

KVM-over-IP or stick with the classic version?
To better meet customer requests and give their customers the best of both worlds — classic KVM and KVM-over-IP —, the KVM experts have recently released six new expansion stages for the ControlCenter-Compact matrix series. All systems come with the latest development of the proprietary HDIP compression method, which allows for lossless video signal transmission at a resolution of up to 4K at 60 Hz. As a result, the entire ControlCenter-Compact series can also be combined with the DP1.2 Vision KVM extender and 4K video signals can be extended and switched via the matrix.
