The SVG Podcast: Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack

The former ESPN exec sheds light on the nexus of sports media and college sports

Few people in the sports industry understand the intersection of sports media and college sports better than Syracuse University Director of Athletics John Wildhack.

Many in sports-video production will know him from his 30+ years as an executive at ESPN. Just prior to moving to Syracuse, he served as EVP of programming and production, and, since coming to the Orange in 2016, he has made quite the impact. Most notably, he secured about $118 million for important renovations to the Carrier Dome and for formation of an in-house production unit to oversee all on-campus videoboards and to support live event production for the upcoming ACC Network.

On the show today, Wildhack discusses how his career experiences influence his current role as a college administrator, how he views establishing a culture of excellence in the workplace, and his expectations for the launch of the ACC Network.

The conversation is moderated by SVG Executive Director, Editorial Services, Ken Kerschbaumer and comes from the stage of the 2019 SVG College Summit.
