Bothof was the first president of Vyvx from 1989-2001, a period of incredible growth for the company as concepts like fiber connectivity became more and more acceptable within the broadcast industry and beyond. Earlier in his career he has also held executive positions at major communications companies such as BellSouth, Scientific-Atlanta and Hewlett Packard.

In 2003 he began his own company, Broadwing, which he worked at before founding Media Extreme in 2008. A leading provider of high-quality transport and managed network services for the media, production and broadcast industries. Media Extreme was acquired by Hibernia Atlantic, now GTT Communications, in 2009.

In 2009 he retired from the industry and tackling one of his passions: operating Volcano Winery, a winery on the big island in Hawaii which he purchased in 1999.

Bothof graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BESS in Electronics in 1970 and graduated Stanford University with an MSEE in 1975.

In addition to Bothof’s passion for the media services business, his friends, and wine, Del loved the game of golf. To honor Del, his friends and colleagues have coordinated the 1st Del Bothof Memorial Golf Outing on Tuesday September 24 at the New York Country Club, 103 Brick Church Road, Spring Valley, NY.  To learn how to join the outing to honor a dear industry friend and colleague, please reach out to Desmond Gallahue, Director Business Development, Media Networks, Zayo Group ([email protected]).
