AES Show To Offer Wide Range of Audio Gear

New wireless products, enhancements for existing lines are on the agenda

When the Audio Engineering Society’s annual AES Show takes place Oct. 17-20 at New York City’s Javits Center, co-located with the NAB Show New York running Oct. 16-17, SVG sponsors will be well represented on both sides of the aisle.

Clear-Com FreeSpeak wireless intercom

Clear-Com (NAB Booth N140, AES Booth 828) will demonstrate its FreeSpeak Edge advanced wireless intercom system in the U.S. for the first time and will also present a broad range of IP-based products and professional intercom communication tools, including support for SMPTE 2110-30.FreeSpeak Edge uses OFDM to provide a robust transport layer that is immune to most forms of interference to deliver 12-kHz audio quality with ultra-low latency and bandwidth to support more than 100 beltpacks and 64 transceivers. Also highlighted at NAB NY is the latest version of the Eclipse HX digital matrix, which now supports SMPTE 2110-30 and AES67 third-party interoperability.

DiGiCo SD12 console

DiGiCo (AES Booth 629) is exhibiting the new DMI-Dante 64@96 card for its 4REA4, S-Series, and selected SD-Range consoles (SD12 and SD7 Quantum). Providing 64 input and 64 output channels at both 48 kHz and 96 kHz, the DMI (DiGiCo Multichannel Interface) card is equipped with primary and secondary Gigabit Ethernet ports for connection and offers a sample-rate–conversion feature that enables the desk to run at a different sample rate than the Dante network.

Genelec (AES Booth 322) offers the U.S. debut of three brand-new additions to The Ones family of studio monitors: the 8351B, which offers increased SPL, additional room EQs, equalized delay, and enhanced HF response; and the 8361A coaxial three-way; and the W371A adaptive woofer system.

Lawo mc²96 Grand Production Console

Lawo‘s (NAB Booth N437, AES Booth 824) mc²96 Grand Production Console is now available in an Xtra fader version: 16 instead of eight faders provide direct access to the double number of channels in the center listening position. The mc²96 Xtra Fader Version enables a 112-fader frame to fit into a 92.52-in. width for installation in standard-size remote-production vans.

The dual-fader operating surface of the mc²56 Third Generation Mixing Consoleincreases the console’s fader count while keeping its size small, with up to 144 faders within a compact footprint. The dual-fader option also incorporates Lawo’s LiveView thumbnail previews of associated video streams directly into the fader strips, enhancing user accuracy in fast-paced production situations.

The rubyAoIP mixing console pairs physical mixing controls with an intuitive, context-sensitive GUI that gives instant access to more advanced functions when needed.

Pliant MicroCom wireless intercom

Pliant Technologies (AES Booth 846) will showcase its newest digital wireless intercom system. MicroCom offers a compact wireless comms solution available in 900 MHz and provides single-channel, full-duplex, multiuser intercom for applications where range and cost are critical. Pliant will also highlight the latest firmware update for its CrewCom wireless intercom system, its updated series of SmartBoom headsets, and its latest accessory offerings: Drop-in Charger, Fiber Hub, and FleXLR gender adaptor.

Riedel Bolero wireless intercom

Riedel Communications’ (NAB Booth N543, AES Booth 969) Bolero wireless intercom system now offers a Standalone 2110 (AES67) Mode, which relies on standard Gigabit Ethernet connections and switches between the antennas, allowing Bolero antennas to be distributed over new or existing AES67 IP networks. Bolero now also includes a DECT Master selection that gives users more control over which antenna takes over should the designated master antenna go offline, and the system supports up to 250 beltpacks in Artist Integrated Mode. Plus, the E-Ink display on the antennas offers several improvements, including the ability to be inverted, display of far more detailed information, and ability to perform configurations from scratch without the need for a web interface.
