SVG SportsTech On Demand: Supersphere VR's Lucas Wilson on How VR Creates Deeper Fan Engagement

In an effort to keep the broadcast-technology community informed this spring, throughout April, SVG is hosting a series of SportsTech On Demand video interviews with executives from the industry’s top technology vendors discussing their latest product releases and company news. Our Jason Dachman sat down with Lucas Wilson, CEO, Supersphere VR about the company’s efforts.

As the world shifts to the work-from-home model due to the coronavirus pandemic, many live-production organizations are searching for new ways to create content and communicate remotely. With that in mind, new opportunities are opening up to use virtual reality and other immersive mediums to connect people and reach fans in a new way. Immersive content and technology provider Supersphere, which has produced more than 100 immersive VR/AR broadcasts with everyone from Intel and Facebook to Billie Eilish Post Malone, is looking to assist these companies in finding new ways to engage their audience.

In this rapidly changing environment, the world still needs to move on. With that in mind, Supersphere has taken rapid steps to stand up a mobile streaming architecture for VR explicitly targeted at the performing world. The company has also worked with a medical epidemiologist to write a Production Safety Protocol for the minute the M&E industry is able to start production again.
