Program Productions, ProCrewz Get Busy as Sports Production Heats Up

As events re-emerge and the need to secure skilled, reliable and healthy labor is as important as ever, PPI is adapting to the new hiring and working environment. “Our overall plan is to focus on the things that we can control,” says Scott West, Program Productions, president and COO. “There are many policies generated by the mobile unit providers, venues, broadcast networks and leagues that are all a bit different and may supersede our policies on site so, we chose to focus on making sure the technicians we hire are informed, healthy, and committed to keeping our worksites safe.”

The Procrewz app makes it easy for crew personnel to keep up on safety guidelines and more.

In response to this ever-changing situation Program Productions has established a Covid-19 Health and Safety Committee to monitor information and adapt hiring procedures as information changes or as new information becomes available. The company is undertaking pre-hire health screenings and also making sure hires acknowledge, in writing, understanding of guidelines and expectations.

“Program Productions’ clients can feel secure in the labor being hired for their productions,” adds West.

Amy Scheller, SVP Strategy & Development, says that simply declaring a worksite to be safe isn’t enough unless all hired technicians are on-board with the goal of a safe workplace.

“As part of the broadcast community, Program Productions understands that our role in keeping our technicians, colleagues and partners healthy is critical to the safe return of live broadcasts,” she says. “We are all in this together.”

Clear and simple communication is more important than ever and that is one reason the ProCrewz mobile app can make a difference. Every crew member downloads the app on their smartphone and tablet, providing the benefit of contactless punch in and out and the ability to read health and safety guideline documents anywhere.

As the landscape shifts to multi-site broadcasts, ProCrewz allows for the seamless management of one crew in unlimited locations.

“As production and workflows adapt to having technicians spread out across the country – a TD and A1 in Florida, Graphics and Scorebox in LA, EVS in NY – the way clients manage those events does not need to change,” says Scheller. “ProCrewz allows us to continue to have seamless end-to-end management from crew booking to payroll.  Crew are able to punch in and out from anywhere, upload expense information and can communicate job wide from the mobile app.”
