Telemundo Deportes is adding the entire NBC Sunday Night Football 2020 schedule to its sports content portfolio. Coverage of the 2020-21 NFL season across both Telemundo and sister network, Universo, mark the first time ever that the full SNF schedule is available in Spanish-language in the U.S.
“We are thrilled to present the first full season of NBC Sunday Night Football to the growing Hispanic football audience,” said Ray Warren, President of Telemundo Deportes. “The NFL is one of the most recognized sports leagues in the world and perfectly aligns with our commitment to deliver the biggest, best, global sports to Spanish-language sports fans, as well as continues our collaboration with our brethren at NBC Sports in ways that complement and serve our growing fan base.”
Telemundo Deportes will televise the entire NBC Sunday Night Football package live including all Sunday night regular-season games, the NFL Kickoff game, the annual Thanksgiving night game, and three Playoff Games. Universo will televise 21 games, with Telemundo to broadcast the newly-added primetime NFL Wild Card playoff game on Sunday, January 10. Spanish-language NFL coverage produced by Telemundo Deportes kicks off Thursday, September 10 with the Houston Texans versus recent Super Bowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs, followed by the Dallas Cowboys versus the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, September 13. Games will also be available to stream via the Telemundo Deportes app and will be added to the NFL Live on Yahoo Sports offering via Verizon Media mobile properties this season.
“We are pleased to build on the NFL’s spring announcement, which brings the new Sunday primetime NFL Wild Card game to Telemundo along with NBC and Peacock,” said Pete Bevacqua, President of NBC Sports Group. “We look forward to reaching even more fans with our Sunday Night Football package available in Spanish.”
Telemundo Deportes’ commentators Edgar Lopez and Rene Giraldo return to call the NFL action, as color commentator and game announcer respectively, each bringing years of NFL coverage experience to Telemundo viewers. In addition, Emmy Award-winning Miguel Gurwitz and NBC Sports Boston anchor, Jorge Andrés, will host the telecasts with pre and post-game studio coverage alongside guest studio analyst and former Arizona Cardinals offensive guard, Rolando Cantu.
The network’s game coverage will be complemented by NFL content across Telemundo Deportes platforms, including dedicated NFL segments on Zona Mixta and Titulares y Más, along with highlights, features, and specials.
“With a growing and incredibly passionate Hispanic fanbase, it is increasingly important that we provide choice in how our fans can watch games, so we are excited to provide an enhanced portfolio of NFL content through Telemundo Deportes platforms,” said Amanda Herald, NFL Vice President, Marketing Strategy, Operations & Planning. “We are pleased to now have the entire Sunday Night Football lineup available through the NBCUniversal family in both English and Spanish.”
This presentation marks the eighth season that Telemundo Deportes will televise NFL games since Telemundo’s first NFL broadcast took place in September of 2010 featuring the Miami Dolphins against the New York Jets. Past coverage has included various Thursday and Sunday Night Football presentations including two NFL Super Bowl presentations in 2015 and 2018.
