Sony’s PWS-4500 Live Production Server Validates Matrox's Extio 3 IP KVM Extenders

Matrox Video’s high-performance Matrox Extio 3 IP KVM extenders have been validated by Sony Imaging Products & Solutions. (Sony) with its PWS-4500 4K/HD live production server. Featuring 4Kp60 and full HD video extension and switching support, Extio 3 delivers a scalable and secure KVM matrix over IP, allowing users to easily access, share, and control PWS-4500 servers on the network. With this validation, production facilities, OB vans, and TV studios can confidently deploy highly-efficient, streamlined infrastructures for a wide range of live production applications, including live sports, events, news, and more.

“Matrox Extio 3 IP KVM extenders are the ideal complement to Sony’s PWS-4500 production server,” says Masakazu Murata, Deputy Senior General Manager, Media Solution Business Division, Sony Imaging Products & Solutions. “Extio 3 works seamlessly with PWS-4500 server, a ready-fit KVM extender for the live production platforms. Broadcasters will be pleased with the new level of operational proficiency provided by the Extio 3 and PWS-4500 combination.”

Matrox Extio 3 IP KVM extenders deliver unprecedented, ultra-low-bitrate 4Kp60 4:4:4, dual 4Kp30 4:4:4, or quad 1080p60 4:4:4 video extension and switching support over a standard Gigabit Ethernet network. This high-performance KVM technology enables users to access, share, and manage one or more centralized servers and/or workstations — located in a different room, building, campus, or city — all from a single 4K/multi-display station, optimizing operator uptime, collaboration, and productivity. Extio 3 also offers advanced security features, ensuring secure and safe transmission of all audio, video, and USB signals over LAN or private WAN.

“Matrox is once again pleased to be working alongside Sony to ensure we are providing broadcasters with exceptionally-robust, industry-endorsed platforms—in this case, Extio 3 KVM extenders with Sony’s PWS-4500 servers for live production,” says Alberto Cieri, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Matrox Video. “We are excited to bring forth a technology collaboration that enables broadcasters and their operators with instant access to all server and system assets, allowing them to deliver the very best live productions possible.”
