SVG On Demand: NBA 2K League’s Matt Arden Reviews Madcap 2020 Season, His Team’s Embrace of Remote Production

It has been a whirlwind year for the NBA 2K League, which wrapped up its third season last month. In March, the NBA/Take Two Interactive esports joint venture was ready to move into a brand-new studio in Manhattan. Then, the pandemic hit. Not to be defeated, however, the league shifted quickly to online play and launched the NBA2KL Three for All Showdown in a matter of weeks.

Matt Arden and his team produced the 2020 NBA 2K League season largely from home this year.

In May, the league tipped off its 2020 regular season with online play and an ambitious REMI workflow. When the league returned, it wasn’t just on Twitch and YouTube: live gameplay coverage was picked up by major networks across the globe — including ESPN in the U.S. and Sportsnet in Canada — opening up an entirely new audience to the world of NBA 2K.

With the 2020 season completed, SVG sat down with NBA 2K League Head of Content and Media Matt Arden to recap the eventful past few months and how his team reacted to the challenges confronting them. Check out the full SVG On Demand interview below:
