Las Vegas Raiders Launch Slick New Studio With Help of Creative Dimensions

In early 2019, Creative Dimensions was asked to provide a design/build solution for the Las Vegas Raiders for a high-level studio at their new Team Headquarters in Henderson, NV. A team effort along with James Yates Production Design, FLDA Lighting, Alpha Video Sports and Entertainment, and AV Design Services helped to provide that solution.

“The Raiders wanted to make a splash worthy of Las Vegas that tied in with their new home,” says Joel P. Roy, President, Creative Dimensions. “The look of their new studio needed to rise to the same level of glitz and glamour as everything else in Vegas.”

The Raiders were interested in taking inspiration in the design of the studio set from the new Allegiant Stadium and the final “look” also needed to align with the architecture of the Team Headquarters facility. They also wanted the studio elements to closely reflect the Raiders Brand. The challenge was two-fold: First, create an environment that had the same “flavor” of the new stadium without making it a cheap knockoff and secondly, to work within the Raiders color scheme of black, white, silver and gray, just the team colors, which “could potentially result in a studio that looked like it was shot in black and white – like an outdated movie – if done wrong,” according to Roy.

The Las Vegas skyline was the natural solution to expand the color palate. A 42’ wide backlit image with blue desert sky and all the colors of the strip helped shake things up in terms of color. Creative Dimensions also incorporated the modern flowing lines of Allegiant into the set design but the company intentionally avoided directly quoting the architectural design.

The Headquarters building was being constructed while the studio design was being developed. Creative Dimensions ran into a significant challenge when the building engineers added “the big bad beam” to the structure of the building that was over two feet wide and ran the full length of the studio. However, lighting partner FDLA was able to design the lighting grid around the beam and work out the necessary lighting angles to make everything work. In the end, the big black beam looks somewhat intentional and there is only about half an inch of clearance where the set sits directly under it.

This was the 13th NFL team that Creative Dimensions has assisted on the broadcasting front.

“The casual sit-down area and the anchor desk came out quite well and the fact that both elements ended up being asymmetrical was a bonus and really enhanced the design. The desk design actually echoes the face on the Raiders logo. It’s sort of a stylized eye patch in its’ own way,” says Roy. “Creative Dimensions’ craftsmanship was put to the test with so many flowing curved walls, metallic finishes and the clean, continuous elements all blending together. The Raiders really raised the bar with this studio.”
