TVU Networks Makes Wireless Solutions Critical to Mission Success Available on FirstNet

TVU Networks’ wireless video, data, and connectivity solutions that are critical for mission success are available for use on FirstNet. The TVU One mobile transmitter, TVU MLink rack-mount transmitter, and TVU Nano router internet access point provide the hardware infrastructure that allows first responders on FirstNet access to high-quality, reliable video for enhanced situational awareness.

FirstNet, built with AT&T is a public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) – an independent agency within the federal government. It’s designed with and for responders and the public safety agencies and extended community that could be called on to support them.

The TVU video, data and connectivity solutions support access to the physically separate and dedicated FirstNet network core, which enables First Priority capabilities on FirstNet – always-on priority and, for first responders, preemption – and the FirstNet Band 14 spectrum. FirstNet eligible customers can feel confident TVU’s solutions combined with FirstNet services will provide the necessary critical connectivity in a reliable, highly secure and cost-effective manner.

As part of the agreement with AT&T, TVU is part of the FirstNet Embedded IoT Program – a program that allows for industry leading FirstNet eligible devices to be combined with FirstNet service to create a single, end-to-end solution that an equipment manufacturer such as TVU can sell to FirstNet-eligible customers for a single monthly fee.

FirstNet embedded solutions go through extensive review, so first responders can be confident that TVU’s video, data and connectivity solutions meet the highest standards for reliability, security and performance.

“TVU’s broadcast industry heritage is what sets our company apart from simple streaming applications for delivering video that’s critical for mission success,” explains Fred Poole, TVU director of government markets. “Many first responders are limited because they are at the mercy of unreliable streaming services that have inherent connectivity and latency issues. Our professional broadcast technology transmits and distributes live video reliably and with sub-second latency to the proper first responder personnel, who can then make more informed decisions based on near real-time, actionable intelligence. We are proud to support first responders nationwide through FirstNet.”

Designed for portable field use, the TVU One aggregates available 3G/4G/LTE, satellite, microwave, WIFI, and Ethernet data connections simultaneously to reliably transmit an HD video stream with high reliability and sub-second latency. TVU MLink provides the same performance for use in command vehicles. TVU Nano is a router that can be deployed rapidly in the field for highly reliable, high-speed internet connectivity, including hotspot functionality for multiple user support. All three solutions feature TVU’s patented Inverse StatMux Plus (IS+) transmission algorithm for dependable transmission in challenging environments.

“We’re pleased to welcome TVU as a member of our FirstNet IoT Embedded Program,” says Scott Agnew, assistant vice president, product marketing, FirstNet Program at AT&T. “This allows us to further our mission to deploy, operate, maintain, and enhance the only nationwide wireless platform dedicated to public safety and the extended community that support public safety response.”
