2022 Sports Emmys: MLB’s Alexander Reyna, Michael Furno on XR and Digital Innovation at the 2021 Home Run Derby

MLB's immersive work was awarded a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Digital Innovation

At the 2021 MLB All-Star Game, Major League Baseball teamed up with T-Mobile to launch MLB AR, a new augmented reality app for fans to engage with during the Home Run Derby. The innovative, interactive experience was a hit and now it’s a Sports Emmy Award winner. MLB AR | VR Apps took home the statuette for Outstanding Digital Innovation.

At the Sports Emmys ceremony in New York, Alexander Reyna, VP, Design and Innovation, Games, VR, AR, Synthetic Media, and Immersive Content at Major League Baseball and Michael Furno, Senior Director, Production and Development for Major League Baseball share the creative choices made in this project and how their work is aimed at revolutionizing sports experiences.
