New Digital Replica, AR Experiences Allow Fans Access to the Stanley Cup Like Never Before

With the 2022 Stanley Cup Final set to begin on Wednesday, June 15, fans around the world now can celebrate and explore the Stanley Cup, the most revered trophy in professional sports, like never before via three new initiatives launched today by the National Hockey League.

Available via QR Code and at is a digital replica of the Stanley Cup. The mobile, tablet, and desktop experience gives fans the opportunity to explore the trophy in detail, including: every winning team engraved from 1893 to 2022; the more than 2,000 players who have their names engraved on the trophy; and a detailed look at the engraving ‘From Stanley of Preston.’

As part of the experience, fans also can place the Stanley Cup in their environment by clicking the blue cube to launch augmented reality (A/R) and get up close to the trophy via mobile device or tablet. The A/R experience uses the camera on your device and gives fans an opportunity to walk up to and around the trophy, look inside the bowl, read the engravings up close, and take photos and videos with friends.

Also launching today, the Stanley Cup will be available as a filter on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This A/R filter is a first for the NHL and gives fans the only opportunity to hoist the greatest trophy in sports above their heads. Now fans will get to explore it as closely as if it was the real thing in front of them. As an extension of the digital replica experience, fans can dive deeper into the history of the Stanley Cup on, which has added hundreds of new pages about the trophy itself as well as championship teams and results.

The digital and social fan experience was developed in collaboration with Dynamic Vision, a Canadian-based company that creates advanced and interactive 3D visualizations and simulation technologies.
