Rock Cats add new Daktronics displays, scoreboard
The Boston Red Sox AA affiliate in New Britain, CT, is upgrading its video display and scoreboard with the help of Daktronics. The company is installing a new ProStar large screen video display and All Sport baseball scoreboard.
Bill Dowling, New Britain Rock Cats president and general manager, says the install is the latest effort by the club to improve the game day experience. “Large screen video technology has improved dramatically over the last several years,” says Dowling. “We chose Daktronics to provide a unique solution for our new scoreboard, incorporating their proven ProStar technology and LED scoreboard.”
The display will measure approximately 16 feet high by 34 feet wide and
be one of the largest in minor league baseball. Nearly 280,000
individual LEDs will be incorporated into the display to show the live
video, instant replays, animation and other imagery and data that will
appear on the display.
The new display will use Daktronics exclusive ProStar light emitting diode (LED) video technology, providing fans with the more game information, color animation, vivid graphics and live video and replays. The display uses red, green, and blue (RGB) LED technology to present information and video with greater brightness and wide-angle visibility. Control systems for the new displays on hand in New Britain include the Venus controller, the V-Link video processor, and All Sport scoreboard controller.
An All Sport LED baseball scoreboard will be positioned below the ProStar video display. The scoreboard will display team scores for each inning up to 10 innings, pitch count, player at bat, outs, hit or error, with the corresponding initial and field position number. Data will be displayed on high-visibility LED digits.
