Dartfish Video Platform Boosts Angels Scouting, Instructional Efforts

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim currently utilize Dartfish’s online video application for use in advance scouting of opposing teams, player instruction, and to help with the team’s minor league clubs. Dartfish.tv allows Angels personnel to quickly publish and share videos online.

On the advance scouting side, the Angels use Dartfish to view all the at-bats of the opposition before each series. Managers and coaches view the video, study the opposing players, identify their tendencies, and devise a gameplan.

In terms of player instruction, coaches will compare two different swings or deliveries to try to help players find their comfort zone. The Angels also put samples of what they see as perfect swings or perfect deliveries so minor league coaches can see what the organization is looking for and trying to teach.

“Dartfish TV has been incredible for us. In the past, what would take a week now only takes a couple hours now, says Diego Lopez, Angels video coordinator. “Once the minor league games are uploaded to the Web, our major league coaches can view the games and give instant feedback to players and coaches in the minor leagues. I believe by using Dartfish, our organization has increased our chances of winning.”
