In Graphics Shakeup, Ross Video Acquires Piero Sports Graphics Business From Red Bee Media

All current Piero employees have moved to Ross Video’s UK subsidiary

With NAB 2019 just over a week away, the graphics side of the sports-video–production business experienced a significant shakeup Thursday when Ross Video announced that it has completed acquisition of the Piero Sports Graphics business from Red Bee Media.

Under the deal, Ross will pick up Piero’s advanced sports-analysis–graphics technology, which is expected to fit into the company’s portfolio of sports solutions. According to an official release, all Piero employees have moved to Ross Video’s UK subsidiary (Ross Video UK) from Red Bee Media as part of the business transfer.

“Piero Sports Graphics are a perfect complement to our industry-leading XPression graphics and VS/AR offering,” says David Ross, CEO, Ross Video. “Our worldwide sports-production customer base will really appreciate the added momentum and exposure we can give to this legendary product.”

Piero Sports Graphics is an award-winning sports-analysis tool set used by high-profile broadcasters to provide audiences with new angles and virtual views of sports events through 3D graphics and image recognition and by sports clubs as a coaching tool to guide players and improve team performance.

“The sale of Piero Sports Graphics supports the execution of our strategy, fully focusing on delivering market-leading managed services within broadcasting and media,” says Steve Nylund, CEO, Red Bee Media. “Ross Video is well-positioned to continue to develop Piero, and they will be able to leverage the potential of the product and accelerate growth of the business.”

He adds that says it will be “business as usual” for customers of both companies. As the business transfer is completed, Ross Video will deliver Piero Sports Graphics and support all Red Bee Media customers. Ross will even be showing Piero Sports Graphics products at NAB 2019, which begins April 8 in Las Vegas.
