3:30-5:00 p.m. The Great Debate: Defining a 4K Roadmap
There is little doubt that 4K will be one of the hot topics at the NAB show. But how, exactly, is the sports production industry, and the broadcast TV industry in general, supposed to approach the format? For 90 minutes we will debate the hows and whys of 4K production and distribution and collectively search for a realistic roadmap for tomorrow that can influence purchasing and production plans today.
Moderated by: Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG Co-Executive Director, Editorial Services
Featuring:
Michael Davies, Fox Sports, VP, Field Operations
George Hoover, NEP Broadcasting, CTO
Dan Miodownik, HBS, Production Department Director
Tom Sahara, SVG Chairman and Turner Sports, VP of Operations and Technology

3:30-4:15: Roadmap for Future Production Formats
Where is your organization headed? 1080p? 4K/60? 4K/120? What about HDR? And how about 8K? We look to see which way things are going by figuring out what might happen when and where your comfort level lies. Larry Thorpe, Canon U.S.A, senior fellow, will kick things by discussing what the realities of current 4K-ready 2/3-inch lenses and the role they will play alongside new 4K cameras that are based on 2/3-inch sensor technologies.

4:15-5:00: Roadmap for Future Distribution Formats
Acquiring and producing content in 4K may actually be the easy part when it comes to next-generation TV formats. Where does your company stand on using streaming of 4K content as an alternative distribution medium? Is your organization going to take a pass on 4K until the ATSC rolls out version 3.0 in 2017? Once again we survey the room and attempt to see which way the wind is blowing.

Production and Engineering Breakout, Pavillion
Topics include:

10:00-10:30: The Move to IP-Based Routing: Myths and Realities
For many the move to IP-based routing will be the very large next step in the move to an all-IP infrastructure. But there is a lot of misunderstanding about how going to IP will impact everything from how you buy and specify for a router, implementation and operations, and troubleshooting vs. traditional baseband routing. This session will lay out the dos and don’ts of making the move to IP routing in 2015.
Presentation by Gary Olson, GHO Group, Managing Director
