Telex shines in Friday Night Lights

Okay, it isn’t REAL football. But it’s still football. “Friday Night Lights,” the new NBC drama series, is using Telex Communications Legacy wireless football coaching system for its football scenes.

The Dillon Panthers coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) and his coaching staff are utilizing a live and fully functional Telex Legacy wireless football coaching system, which was designed specifically for High School and small College Football programs, and was launched into the market earlier this year.

The system has been so successful that despite its initial use as a prop, acclaimed writer/director Peter Berg has even used the live system to pass directional instructions to the actors. The Panther s opposition teams are also using various Telex professional headsets, the majority of which are used by 98% of all of the Division I College programs

Virle Reid, Assistant Prop Master, Friday Night Lights, commented, “While doing research into football coaching headsets, especially amongst the bigger high schools in Texas, Telex is the leading brand and product. To accurately portray that aspect of the game, we had to have the genuine system being used by respected programs across the country. The added bonus was that the Legacy product worked so well that it actually helped us improve our on set communication.

It has been a real coup to be involved with Friday Night Lights. Telex wireless football coaching headsets are seen on TV most nights of the week, with all the professional, college and high school games, it s now great to see them featured every Tuesday night on NBC primetime. It s a great show, all the whole staff have been great people to work with, and we are very proud that Friday Night Lights chose Telex headsets and the Telex Legacy system to add genuine football coaching legitimacy to the sidelines for the football scenes added Telex s Marc Archer.

Friday Night Lights is on NBC Monday Nights at 10pm (ET/PT) and Tuesday nights at 8/7 central.
