Sports Display Systems new LED goal scoring indicator system, “ILLUMIGOAL” has been added to the HSBC arena to serve as the official scoring system for the National Lacrosse League’s (NLL) Buffalo Bandits. The Bandits unveiled the technology at their home opener. “The Bandits as of right now are the first in the NLL to have it,” said Al Weissman President/Systems Engineer at Sports Display Systems.

The system was designed to improve the viewing experience. It was designed to add a little glitz to a goal. “I think it is a big enhancer for the TV audience as well as for the fans in the arena,” said Weissman. The system uses traditional goal indicators with LED technology. It is located behind the goal and on the seams of the glass. “You can see it from the front and from the back and 360. It makes for impressive TV and goal scoring,” said Weissman.

Originally thought of for the NHL the system can be simple or sophisticated manual or automatic. “It can cover a few seams or cover the whole end zone,” said Weissman.

Many future NLL teams are looking at employing the technology. There has been a great response from visiting teams. “When the NY Titans played here they loved it,” said Weissman.
