BaseballChannel.TV previews Draft

MLB.com
will air its second annual exclusive First-Year Player Draft preview show,
continuing what is already the most comprehensive Draft coverage anywhere. The
show, which will stream live today at 2 p.m. ET, will take a look at some of
the Draft’s biggest prospects and examine the most recent trends in the days
leading up to Draft Day.

BaseballChannel.TV
host Vinny Micucci will host the hour-long show alongside MLB.com Minor League
reporter and draft expert Jonathan Mayo as well as Kevin Goldstein of Baseball
Prospectus, who will both break down what players should land where on Draft
Day.

Among the
show’s many features will be an exclusive interview with Tampa Bay Devil Rays
Director of Scouting R.J. Harrison from Tropicana Field, where he is preparing
to make the first overall pick for the third time in franchise history. There
will also be in-depth looks at
Vanderbilt

University left-handed pitcher David
Price, thought to be headed to the Devil Rays with that first overall pick, and

Rutgers infielder Todd Frazier, who first
burst upon the national scene when he led Toms River, N.J., to the Little
League World Series title in 1998.

The show
will offer a look at the strong crop of pitchers from the Northeastern United
States this year, including potential first rounders Rick Porcello (
New Jersey), Matt Harvey (
Connecticut)
and Jack McGeary (

Massachusetts).
The program will also give a retrospective peek at the ballyhooed 2002
First-Year Player Draft, which could be known as one of the top drafts for
Major League pitching talent instead of its inclusion in Michael Lewis’
best-selling book, Moneyball, and catch up with some fourth-year college
seniors who chose to return to school to improve their draft stock instead of
turning pro.

MLB.com
will broadcast every pick of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, which takes
place June 7-8 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex in

Orlando,
Fla.
Day 1 coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET with a simulcast of ESPN2’s broadcast of the
first round and compensation picks. The remaining rounds on Day 1 will be shown
exclusively at MLB.com, with live analysis from

Orlando by Casey Stern, Mayo and Perfect Game
USA’s Dave Rawnsley. Day 2 of the Draft will get under way at 11:30 am ET and
continue through Round 50, if necessary. Every pick on Day 2 can be heard live
at MLB.com with analysis from Mayo and Perfect Game USA’s Allan Simpson.

Also once
again this year, fans can also follow every pick with MLB.com’s live Draft
Caster, a searchable database of every Draft-eligible player featuring
biographical data, statistics, scouting reports and rare scouting video.

This
preview show will whet fans’ appetites for what is certain to be another year
of outstanding draft coverage spotlighting MLB.com’s resources.
