Token Creek adds ClipStoreMXc to equipment arsenal

announced the purchase of the ClipStoreMXc HD/SD digital disk recorder by Token
Creek Mobile Television. “We serve
a broad range of clients—from corporate, to entertainment, to sports—and they
all have slightly different disk recording needs.” said Brendan Clark, director
of engineering at Token Creek. “We therefore needed an HD disk recorder to fill
a variety of applications, and we needed it to be cost effective in order to fit
within our budget.”
is a perfect choice for HD digital disk recording applications in the mobile
television truck market.
real-time recording and playback of HD-SDI digital video, key and 8-track
audio, and housed inside a short and compact 3RU chassis (measuring only 16”
deep), ClipStoreMXc accommodates digital cinema-quality HD images thanks to
efficient J2K wavelet-based compression. When standard-definition recording is
required, ClipStoreMXc doesn’t compress the video, key or audio at all.
“We really
liked the ability to directly ingest QuickTime MOV files; a file-based ingest
workflow seems to be a good step for transporting video, instead of using
videotape,” says Clark. “And we have operators
in our service area who are already familiar with the ClipStoreMXc’s interface.”

QuickTime MOV file import feature in ClipStoreMXc is steadily gaining
popularity, since it provides a viable and superior alternative to videotape
for transporting high quality HD video, key and audio elements. In the studio, end-user
clients simply copy all their video, key and audio segments as individual MOV
files onto a hi-speed USB or Firewire portable disk drive. In the remote
broadcast truck, ClipStoreMXc ingests these MOV files, creating high-quality HD
clips on its internal real-time media disk set. These end-user clients can also
easily remove the real-time
media disk set from the ClipStoreMXc, and transport the disk set to the next
venue in cases where the video, key & audio media are used repetitively in
a series of broadcasts or live events.
is deployed in dozens of professional HD mobile television trucks around the
world, with the primary purpose of replaying animated graphics transitions,
show openings and sponsor promotions during live television broadcasts, live
corporate and entertainment events.
