Job Openings: Video and Audio Production

The first in SVG’s series on current opportunities at broadcast networks and sports franchises. Today’s postings are from SNY, ESPN, and the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks.
SportsNet New York has a job opening for a producer position. The producer reports directly to the news director and will be responsible for building and producing SNY’s range of 30- and 60-minute TV shows. Producers work directly with on-air talent, associate producers, and editors on content direction. They also help develop younger, less experienced talent, coordinate the live shots, and write compelling openings and scripts. SVG managing editor Carolyn Braff, detailed in last Friday’s newsletter ESPN’s process of moving to its new Los Angeles facility. ESPN is offering a position as coordinating audio technician at the new facility. Job responsibilities include audio mixing, and the technician must be able to provide in-depth training and guidance on audio equipment to staff members. Qualifications include an understanding of all equipment in an audio-production environment, such as mixing consoles, ancillary audio-processing gear, networked server-based recording/playback systems and related software, signal measurement, metering devices, wireless/RF microphones, routers, and signal-conversion equipment. The NBA’s Atlanta Hawks organization is seeking a chief engineer of video production for the Hawks and Thrashers and Philips Arena. The chief engineer is responsible for service and maintenance of the digital video production-control room, including the LED video screens, matrix boards, video walls, audio board, specialty lighting, Avid Unity and Media Composer systems, and CCTV and in-house audio systems.
