RF Central Upgrades Portable 2-GHz Transmitter

RF Central’s RFX-PHT-II HD upgradable portable 2-GHz digital
transmitter will be introduced at the 2009 NAB Show (Booth C3707). It uses RF
Central’s signature RFX-CMT-II camera-mounted transmitter and is
designed to turn any “news car” into a “live-broadcast vehicle” and
transform any “run-and-shoot” car into a “run-and-transmit” vehicle.

Built inside a weather-resistant portable case, the new HD-upgradable, portable high-power digital transmitter is offered with 5-W power output standard but is also available at other output levels, including 7 W, upon request. While the PHT-II is perfect for ENG mobile use in the field, it is also ideal for use in a standalone mode for temporary transmit applications. Among its accessible formats are 480i, 720p, and 1080i. In addition, the unit can be configured to accept either composite or component analog video and HD-SDI digital signals and is also equipped with an ASI input. In addition, its capabilities include analog, digital AES, and fully embedded audio.

“Today’s broadcast world is fast-paced and on the go,” says RF Systems President Stephen Shpock. “With the RFX-PHT-II, broadcasters receive our high-power digital transmitter technology but in a neat compact design that lends itself well to mobile use.”

With frequency selection ranging up to 16 preset channels that tune in 0.25-MHz increments via the CMT-II control panel, the PHT-II offers multiple modes of COFDM modulation including QPSK, 16QAM, and 64QAM. Options for the PHT-II are a Car Mounting Kit and Antenna. RF Central warranties the PHT-II for three years.
