Armenia’s Ucom Taps Ericsson for IPTV

Armenian telecommunications provider Ucom will launch interactive-TV services using Ericsson’s IPTV solution with Gigabit Passive Optical Network technology. Ucom’s offering will include features such as chat, e-voting, web TV, and access to social media networks.

The Ericsson IPTV solution for Ucom includes IPTV middleware, a content-distribution platform, a customized consumer portal, and GPON technology.

GPON fiber-access technology allows consumers to watch several HDTV channels, download large files from the Internet, and place voice calls simultaneously without service disruptions.

Ucom will begin its rollout in July.
