Outdoor Channel Steps Up Digital Media Efforts

After pushing its television distribution base to some 34.5 million households, Outdoor Channel has relaunched its website and appointed a new executive to lead the network’s digital media department.

The renewed focus on digital media will be led by Todd Merkow, who’s new responsibilities will entail managing and growing the network’s online, mobile, and attendant assets. According to Multichannel News, Merkow has served as a consultant for Outdoor Channel over the past year and the site has seen a 136% increase in visits and a 173% jump in page views since his arrival.

The new site, developed by Winnercomm’s interactive division, featured enhanced usability, navigation, and search capabilities as well as a new broadband video player that enables users to watch an extensive library of thousands of videos, primarily in HD.
