Australian Broadcaster Roger Wood Awarded the Order of Australia Medal
By Michael Silbergleid
NorthernStar.com.au writes that when Australian Roger Wood founded Richmond Valley Radio he soon learned there was more to running a station than simply being an on-air announcer. He also had to master computers, electrical and audio technology, broadcast techniques, laws for governing radio and how to service the sponsors that helped keep his station financially afloat. Fifteen years on since those humble beginnings, Mr Wood can now add Medal of the Order of Australia to his list of titles. He was awarded his OAM for service to radio broadcasting and to the community of the Richmond Valley.
