Campus Clips: Ball State Sports Link to Air Five Productions in 12 Days; Horizon League Rolls Out Mobile App

Ball State Sports Link, one of the premier sports production education operations in the country, will produce five broadcasts over a stretch of 12 days. The first of the five productions – which includes three live basketball games in the next two weeks — begins with Saturday afternoon’s Ball State women’s basketball game vs. Murray State. Saturday’s contest will be produced by senior Paul Brown, with junior Chris Renkel and senior Brandon Scott on the call. Sports Link will produce back-to-back games in a 48-hour span —  Nov. 29 (Ball State Men’s Basketball vs. Texas Southern) and Dec. 1 (Ball State Women’s Basketball vs. Detroit).  All three games will be televised locally in Muncie, In. on Comcast Cable 61, Cardinal Vision 57 and tape-delayed across the state on Indiana Comcast 81. …The Horizon League, in partnership with WebStream Productions, has launched “Horizon League Network Live,” the conference’s newest mobile application. It is now available in the iTunes App Store. The Horizon League is the only NCAA Division I athletics conference in the country to offer its entire live video collection via a mobile application. At a price of $1.99, the app can be downloaded to any iOS smart phone or tablet, with Android availability coming soon. The app allows fans to watch any game carried live on the Horizon League Network along with on-demand features and highlights during the 2011-12 athletics season. …The Southland Conference announced Monday that Houston Baptist University will become the newest member of the NCAA Division I league. The university will become the 11th member of the Southland on July 1, 2013, and will then become eligible for conference championships and NCAA automatic bids in most of the league’s sports.
