In the company’s Consumer Technology report, it cites how social listening to research meant it knew what consumers felt about 3D TV’s successor, 4K. The data showed that the three target demographics; gamers, TV and film fans, and people with an interest in computing, all had concerns with the technology.

These were major concerns and while the technology may seem immutable, it is still imporant to monitor the people. Brands have the opportunity to listen to what people think before investing millions of dollars in developing and marketing them. The insights that organizations can now gather from the web far surpass anything that’s come before, and should, in theory, stop them from wasting money on preventable, expensive flops.
