NAB 2016: Artel Meets Next-Gen Multiviewer Needs, Adds Satellite-Scanning Functionality

Anyone looking for next-generation multiviewer capabilities will want to stop by the Artel Video Systems booth (N4512) at NAB 2016 and take a look at the DLC910. It adds four-channel SD/HD/3K multiviewer functionality to Artel’s DigiLink media-transport platform and supports a broad range of input-signal formats and resolutions.

“The DLC910 is an ideal solution for broadcasters and other A/V professionals looking for flexible, cost-efficient multiviewer and confidence-feed solutions,” says Tom Beardsley, director, product management, Artel Video Systems. “Combined with other media-transport functionality in the DigiLink platform, the DLC910 provides customers with a fully integrated solution that saves valuable rack space and requires minimal support.”

Artel’s DLC910 multiviewer enables users to monitor the status of up to four independent video channels and features auto-detect format, audio monitoring, automatic aspect-ratio output, and multiple I/O options using BNCs, optical or HDMI SFPs, or other modules in the DigiLink platform. Any input signal can be displayed in any multiviewer quadrant.

Also new this year from Artel are satellite-scanning features in the DLC510, enabling the DigiLink to function as an L-band satellite demodulator and as a fully automatic L-band transponder scanner. Using DigiLink’s flexible DL Manager HTTP- and SNMPv2-based element-management system, the DLC510 provides essential RF information, modulation data, and other key metrics used in daily operations in an easy-to-read list. Operators can select a specific satellite transponder and send the demodulated signal to the ASI output for transport by other DigiLink modules over IP or fiber networks. Also, the DLC510 can be used as a test-and-measurement system for busy satellite operations or engineering departments.

“Network-operation centers are continually challenged by incorrect transmission information, which results in delays in getting fast-breaking news or sports feeds to air,” explains Beardsley. “The DLC510, with just one click, can identify the signal in seconds and feed the signal to an appropriate satellite receiver to get the signal on the air quickly and without delay. In addition, getting signals from remote downlinks back to the network-operation center is quick and effective when using the ASI output of the DLC510 demodulator over an IP network with DigiLink’s DLC410 IP encapsulation module.”

And, for those working in an environment where advanced switching and management are a requirement and space is a concern, the DL4120 1RU four-slot chassis with active routing combines modular transport functionalities with 20×20 3G routing and Ethernet switching in a space-efficient 1RU design. Additionally, the chassis includes on-board chassis management and dual integrated AC power supplies.

In addition, the company has launched the Artel Care services program with service and support to assist customers in planning, deploying, and maintaining their investment in Artel’s media-transport systems. Gold, Platinum, and Diamond service packages provide graduated levels of Artel’s renowned technical support, remote assistance, and troubleshooting; software updates and enhancements; hardware repair and replacement coverage; and other service-level commitments.
