SVG Summit 2017: With NBA Ratings on Ascent, League and Broadcasters Find New Ways to Connect With Fans

From the NBA Draft to the NBA All-Star Game and, of course, the NBA Finals, the sport of professional basketball connects with fans in a way few sports are capable of doing. In addition to the production of the games themselves, the pre-game, half-time, and OTT and streaming services continue to evolve to ensure that fans remain as connected to the sport as ever. At the SVG Summit on Dec. 12, a panel featuring top Turner Sports, NBA, and ESPN execs addressed how the league and its broadcast partners are evolving their relationship with fans and what next-generation technologies will make a difference.

Turner Sports Senior Director of Tech Ops Chris Brown highlights how NBATV is integrating off-site commentators, including Dennis Scott, into NBA game broadcasts to add a dynamic new elements to its coverage.

Turner Sports Director Matt Lipp discusses the success of TNT’s ‘Players-Only’ NBA series and how other networks are looking to launch similar iterations of the concept.
