AT&T Signs on as ESL’s Mobile Gaming Sponsor, Looks to Incorporate 5G Technology
AT&T has signed on as the Official Telecommunications and Mobile Gaming Partner of ESL North America. AT&T will provide connectivity for some several major ESL properties and venues, including Arena of Valor Pro League, the E3 ESL Arena, ESL One New York, and Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) North America. AT&T will keep fans connected through wifi and convenient charging stations, and showcase the latest in technology through immersive experiences and demos. In addition, AT&T ultimately plans to incorporate its future 5G technologies into the mobile esports experience.
The collaboration was announced yesterday at SHAPE, AT&T’s two day event exploring the convergence of technology and entertainment. Next week, the AT&T and ESL partnership will be on full display at E3. TWITCH viewers will see AT&T within the broadcast of the E3 ESL Arena as competition is underway. AT&T will also host a cutting edge 5G demo in the ESL booth at E3 to give gamers an up close look at how a 5G connection from AT&T will give them the ability to take their live gaming experience with them virtually anywhere.
Speed and connectivity are critical components of esports, especially as mobile gaming and competitive esports on-the-go look to reach a more mobile-centric audience. AT&T will look to help elevate the gaming experience with its fiber and future 5G technologies.
“Teaming up with ESL just makes sense. Esports creates a natural intersection of technology and entertainment, which aligns with our brand and our customers’ passions,” says Shiz Suzuki, assistant vice president, AT&T Corporate Sponsorships. “AT&T celebrates the esports community, and we’re excited to bring rich, new ways for fans to enjoy gaming as the industry continues to grow.”
“With such an experienced traditional sports brand like AT&T jumping into this industry, there are endless possibilities to what they can naturally bring to esports fans and players all over the world,” says Mark Cohen, SVP Global Brand Partnerships, ESL. “We look forward to seeing what this collaboration will bring to esports and how it will impact the industry in a brand new way.”
