NBC Sports Pluses Weekday Morning Schedule With Sky Sports News; Feherty Joins Sky Sports Golf

After acquiring a majority stake in Sky in October of last year, Comcast is looking to leverage the combined programming assets of NBC Sports Group and Sky Sports to serve viewers on both sides of the pond. NBC Sports Network will add Sky Sports News to its weekday morning lineup beginning on Friday, while the Golf Channel’s Feherty will premiere on Sky Sports Golf today.

Sky Sports News on NBCSN
NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) will add a simulcast of Sky Sports News to its programming lineup each weekday from 11 a.m.–Noon ET, beginning this Friday, March 1. Sky Sports News highlights many of the sports properties and leagues that U.S. viewers enjoy on the networks of NBCUniversal, including the Premier League, NFL, Olympic sports, golf, auto racing, horse racing, and rugby.

Leading into the Sky Sports News simulcast this Friday, March 1, NBCSN will present a special four-hour PFT Live with Mike Florio and Chris Simms, live from 7-11 a.m. ET from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Beginning Monday, March 4, NBCSN’s 9-11 a.m. programming block will feature an encore presentation of that day’s episode of PFT Live with Mike Florio, which is televised live from 7-9 a.m. ET every weekday, and is regularly co-hosted by former NFL quarterback and current analyst Chris Simms and Football Morning in America’s Peter King. Sky Sports News and the PFT Live with Mike Florio encore fill the programming block occupied by The Dan Patrick Show, which ends its six-year run on the network on Thursday.

“We look forward to sharing Sky Sports News’ best-in-class coverage and perspective on the world’s most popular sports with our NBCSN viewers each weekday morning,” says Jon Miller, President of Programming, NBC Sports & NBCSN. “PFT Live with Mike Florio is the best source of NFL information every weekday, and this new schedule will provide added exposure each morning.”

This is the second major full-program collaboration between NBC Sports and Sky Sports since Comcast acquired Sky TV in October 2018. On January 31, NBC Sports and Sky Sports News combined to present a six-hour “Premier League Transfer Deadline Day Special” for U.S. viewers.

Feherty on Sky Sports Golf
Today, Sky Sports Golf will begin airing GOLF Channel’s Emmy-nominated original series Feherty, introducing its viewers to the two-time Emmy-nominated host and his golf-enthused, culturally relevant celebrity guests from across golf, sports, entertainment, and politics. The announcement follows the recent news of Sky Sports’ continued investment in golf with live coverage of all four men’s and five women’s major championships in 2019.

A native of Northern Ireland, Feherty’s interview series initially debuted in 2011, and kicked off its ninth season last night on GOLF Channel. Wednesday’s debut of the series on Sky Sports Golf will feature episodes with European golf icons Ian Poulter and Tommy Fleetwood, with plans to begin airing episodes from the current season of Feherty next month, including Fred Couples, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, and Tony Finau.

“It’s becoming abundantly clear that the standard for what’s considered good television is universally low, regardless of the continent on which it’s being viewed,” says Feherty. “An entirely new audience of golf fans will soon discover just how full of it I am. While fortune may favor the bold, an appreciation for mediocrity favors yours truly.”
