PAMA Mark Brunner Scholarship Enters Its Second Year

Recipients are students headed for a career in pro audio

The Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance (PAMA), in partnership with Shure Inc., offers the Mark Brunner Professional Audio Scholarship annually to students worldwide who are pursuing an education in professional audio. The $2,000 scholarship is targeted to a recipient following their passion for audio in an accredited audio program.

The scholarship honors the long-time Shure executive, PAMA founding member, and leading voice in the audio community, who had an unwavering passion for education and mentorship throughout his career. PAMA and Shure will be interested in how the applicant plans to share their knowledge with others in a manner consistent with Brunner’s legacy.

Applicants must be pursuing a degree in professional audio and be enrolled in an accredited program. Each will submit a 300-word essay on why they are pursuing an audio degree and how they plan to apply the knowledge they acquire through that education. Applicants are encouraged to specifically detail how they plan to share their knowledge with others in a manner consistent with the legacy of Mark Brunner.

Brunner, who was VP of global corporate and government relations when he died unexpectedly on Oct. 1, 2020, had worked for Shure since 1989 and held numerous roles during his tenure with the company. Much of his focus was related to the company’s industry-leading lobbying efforts in Washington, DC, to promote the pro-audio industry’s interests in wireless-device regulation, frequency-spectrum allocation, and other critical issues.

The inaugural winners of the scholarship’s first two awards were announced in August. Deadline for submissions for the 2022 awards is to be announced.
