YES To Offer Four Hours of Pre-Game Coverage Ahead of Sox-Yankees

The YES Network will present the biggest pre-game show in regional sports network history tomorrow in advance of its 2022 Opening Day Red Sox-Yankees telecast. YES’ game telecast begins at 1 p.m. Eastern, but the network’s pre-game coverage begins at 9 a.m., giving fans four hours’ worth of pre-game coverage.

The highlights, which not only focus on the Yankees’ Opening Day but also on the 20th anniversary of YES’ March 2002 launch:

  • Michael Kay’s interview with former YES Yankees analyst Jim Kaat, who will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer.
  • Kay’s interview with Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, whose wildly popular groundbreaking WFAN show with Mike Francesca was simulcast live on YES upon YES’ launch in March 2002; “Mike and the Mad Dog” was the first sports radio talk show to be simulcast live on TV.
  • Bob Lorenz’ interview with John Sterling, the longtime radio voice of the Yankees and host of YES’ Emmy Award-winning Yankeeography series
  • A conversation between Meredith Marakovits and current WFAN Yankees analyst and former YES Yankees clubhouse reporter Suzyn Waldman
  • A roundtable discussion featuring Kay, former longtime YES analyst Ken Singleton and current YES Yankees analysts David Cone and Paul O’Neill
  • Meredith Marakovits sit-down interviews with Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole
  • Jack Curry interviews new YES analyst Cameron Maybin
  • Excerpts from the Carlos Beltran CenterStage
  • Jomboy gives his unique perspective on the upcoming season
  • An in-depth look at the 2022 Yankees roster and season
  • Vignettes from YES’ first 20 years of Yankees coverage

Nancy Newman, Michael Grady and Chris Shearn will host the first two hours of coverage, while Lorenz, Curry and John Flaherty will host the second two hours.

YES will air a comprehensive post-game show at the conclusion of its game telecast.

Also tomorrow, the YES App will live-stream the managerial debut of Rachel Balkovec when her Tampa Tarpons team (Yankees’ Single-A affiliate) plays against the Lakeland Flying Tigers; coverage starts at 6 p.m. Eastern with pre-game ceremonies; first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
